"Furniture/Furnishings" has been shown extensively since my first installation "In my room" at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in 1979. "CHAIRS", two six-feet tall welded iron and steel sculptures, were commissioned by the MTA/Arts For Transit, and originally installed in The Union Square Subway in 1995. More recently they were installed in City Hall in Bellevue, Washington. The artwork started traditionally, displayed on walls, but soon developed a life of its own, moving off the wall and morphing into stand-alone pieces. Though fragile-looking, with extensive use of applied gel-enhanced acrylic extruded onto doilies, referencing domesticity, the pieces are actually very strong — often using wood, iron, and steel — to form a skeletal backbone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsx_nmC5LcA http://jennifercecere.com/images/JenniferCecere-Chair.mp3 see sample work
